What is the purpose of the Transport Safety Investigation Act? ANSWER: The Transport Safety Investigation Act 2003 (TSI Act) originally commenced operation on 1 July 2003. It underwent significant amendment on 1 July 2009. The TSI Act establishes the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) as an independent Commonwealth Statutory agency.
