The ATSB has been advised by the operator that this procedure has been withdrawn.

If the landing gear mount had failed during a charter flight resulting in minor damage to the aircraft this would be a routinely reportable matter in accordance with the Transport Safety Investigation Regulations 2003 2.4 (1) (b). The operator has stated that the landing gear mount failed during a private flight with minor damage, which is not a reportable matter under the Transport Safety Investigation Regulations 2003.

This report was forwarded to the Model Aeronautical Association of Australia for their information.

The ATSB has not passed the dates of the incident in question to the operator as this would identify a particular incident and hence the controllers involved would be identified. The REPCON legislation requires that no person can be identified in a REPCON report.
