The En Route Supplement Australia (ERSA) did not have formal guidance for flight crews regarding the limited visual cues for maintaining alignment to runway 11/29 at Darwin during night landings in reduced visibility.
The additional information provided in the ERSA should improve the risk awareness and decision-making of flight crews during low visibility approaches to Darwin airport.
On 28 January 2019, Darwin International Airport initiated amendments to the ERSA entry for Darwin Airport. These amendments were introduced into the 23 May 2019 issue of the ERSA, and stated:
