Response Text

We have conducted our evaluation concerning the Cessna model
300/400 series airplanes that are the subject of FAA Safety
Recommendation 00.003. Because of a number of incidents in which
trim-tab actuator jackscrews have 'jumped' threads, Safety
Recommendation 00.003 suggests that Cessna Aircraft Corporation
take appropriate action to ensure that Cessna elevator trim-tab
actuator component parts affected by this safety deficiency are
recoded so that they cannot be purchased separately. In addition,
it is recommended that Cessna Aircraft Corporation review
comparable designed trim-tab actuators to ensure that they are not
affected by this safety deficiency.

After bringing this information to their attention, Cessna Aircraft
Corporation agreed to recode all parts affected by this safety
deficiency. The attached letters present Cessna's position on this
matter (Note: letters are response from Cessna to ATSB). As a
result of the Cessna's cooperation, the Wichita Aircraft
Certification Office does not deem any further action to be
necessary.

We recommend Safety Recommendation 00.003 be closed.
