I refer to air safety occurrence BO/1 9902874 and your
correspondence reference BS/1 9990036 concerning back beam
radiation from the runway 15 localiser at Cairns. CASA agrees the
need for education of flight crew about the existence of the ILS
back beam phenomena and will provide this information in an article
in Flight Safety Australia magazine. Additional education
opportunities will be explored.
