ATSB Response

On 12 June 2003, ATSB requested additional information about the
status of its recommendation issued 12 March 2003 and forwarded the
following to the Rottnest Island Aerodrome operator: I refer to
your correspondence dated 27 February 2003, sent in response to the
Bureaus draft investigation report 200105777. The Bureau released
its final report on 12 March 2003, which included the
recommendation that the Rottnest Island aerodrome operator and the
Bureau of Meteorology evaluate the feasibility of transmitting the
one minute data from the Rottnest Island AWS on a discrete VHF
radio frequency. This safety recommendation was included in the
draft investigation report and your correspondence of 27 February
indicated that the Rottnest Island Authority (RIA) concurred with
the recommendation. The Bureau maintains information as to the
status of recommendations on its website. For the completeness of
this record could I please request a brief summary of any
evaluation performed by RIA together with brief details of any
implementation planned.
