Following the release of the ATSB's interim report into this
issue, CASA brought this recommendation to the attention of Virgin
Blue and Ansett Australia as operators of these, and other similar
engine types. In addition, as this incident involved a Qantas
aircraft, Qantas are aware of the possibility of catastrophic
engine failure die to failure of high-pressure turbine blades
repaired using Inconnel 625 alloy consumables and have discussed
this matter with the Authority.
