The ATSB is investigating a hydraulics system issue involving a Fairchild SA227-DC, registration VH-WAJ, at Perth Airport, Western Australia, on 12 August 2024.
The aircraft was operated by Skippers Aviation on charter from Forrestania to Perth, WA. During approach, the crew received a hydraulic system warning. During taxi, the brakes failed, and the aircraft collided with a hangar resulting in minor damage.
Examination and analysis of the initial evidence collected has commenced.
To date, the ATSB investigation has included:
- interviews of the flight crew
- collection of documentation from the operator
- collection of flight recorder data.
The continuing investigation will include further examination and analysis of:
- related occurrences
- operator reports
- flight recorder data.
A final report will be released at the conclusion of the investigation. Should a critical safety issue be identified during the course of the investigation, the ATSB will immediately notify relevant parties, so that appropriate safety action can be taken.
