The ATSB is investigating the collision with terrain of a Cessna 150M light aircraft, registered VH-WWU, about 20 km north-west of Northampton, Western Australia, on 21 March 2025. The pilot, the sole occupant of the aircraft, was fatally injured, and the aircraft was destroyed.

The ATSB deployed a team of transport safety investigators to the accident site with experience in aircraft engineering, maintenance, and operations.

As part of the evidence gathering phase of the investigation, ATSB investigators examined the aircraft wreckage and other information from the accident site, interviewed witnesses and involved parties, and obtained maintenance records.

A final report will be released at the conclusion of the investigation. Should a critical safety issue be identified during the course of the investigation, the ATSB will immediately notify relevant parties, so that appropriate safety action can be taken.
