The ATSB is investigating the collision between a road vehicle and a track machine consist near Dalby, Queensland on 18 February 2025.
At about 1100 local time, a road vehicle collided with a track machine consist (tamper and ballast regulator) at the Nicholson Street level crossing. This was an active level crossing controlled by a railway crossing flashing signal assembly. The collision resulted in minor damage to the track machines and road vehicle. The road vehicle driver sustained minor injuries, and the crew of the track machines were uninjured.
The evidence collection phase of the investigation will involve interviewing the involved parties, retrieving and reviewing any recorded data and the collection of other relevant information.
The final report will be published at the conclusion of the investigation. Should any critical safety issues be identified at any stage during the course of the investigation, the ATSB will immediately notify relevant parties so appropriate safety action can be taken.
