REPCON is a voluntary and confidential reporting scheme administered by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB). It allows any person who has an aviation, marine or rail safety concern to report it to the ATSB. The scheme is established under the Transport Safety Investigation (Voluntary and Confidential Reporting Scheme) Regulation 2012 for the purpose of enabling the ATSB to identify unsafe procedures or practices, and give information to relevant industry participants to facilitate action and awareness about transport safety issues.
Personal information collected by the ATSB will be used for the purposes of the scheme and in accordance with the ATSB’s privacy policy.
NOTE 1: REPCON is not an alternative to the mandatory reporting requirements set out in the Transport Safety Investigation Regulations 2021. If you are a responsible person required to make a mandatory report of an accident or serious incident to the ATSB, please submit your report through:
- For aviation - the ATSB aviation occurrence notification form
- For marine - the AMSA marine accident or incident notification form
- For rail - the ONRSR accident or incident notification form
NOTE 2: Submission of information to a Commonwealth agency that is false or misleading is a serious offence under section 137.1 of the Criminal Code.
NOTE 3: The following matters are not reportable safety concerns under the REPCON scheme:
- matters showing a serious and imminent threat to a person’s health or life
- industrial relations matters
- criminal conduct, including alleged offences or contraventions with a law of the Commonwealth, State or Territory such as terrorist acts or breach of work health and safety legislation
