The ATSB is investigation a collision with terrain involving Cessna 172N, VH-SQO, near Mulgathing, South Australia, on 27 June 2024.
During aerial mustering operations, the aircraft collided with terrain and the pilot was fatally injured.
To date, the ATSB investigation has included:
- inspection of the accident site and aircraft wreckage
- interviews with key involved parties
- examination of meteorological conditions
- evaluation of witness information
- examination of maintenance and pilot records
- evaluation of the impact sequence and survivability
- examination of the conduct of similar flight operations
